“The nights with sirens became more and more difficult for the children, panic and the feeling of powerlessness drove us crazy.”

Life on pause…
We woke up as usual in the morning to go to preschool and work but after looking in the window, where we had a military base, we understood that something was going on. We took our phone and mine said “-It has started”.
Then we hear the sound of flight alarms, news and then everything is as if in a fog. Where shall we run, what shall we do? We decided to move in with mum as we thought it would be easier to be together. We stored food, water, medicine and fuel but we felt anxiety in our souls. The nights with sirens became more and more difficult for the children, panic and the feeling of powerlessness drove us crazy. We thought about whether we should go or stay. On the second of March, my husband took us by car through the whole of Ukraine, the road to the border was very difficult; cold, checkpoints, traffic jams, traffic and tired children. We just wanted to go home, everything was chaos. Me, my son, mother and sister crossed the border into Poland and then fate took us to Sweden. We have ended up in Härnösand where we have found peace and a chance for a new life.
